Mechel says coal output rises 12% to 3 mln tns in April–June

MOSCOW, Aug 27 (PRIME) – The coal output of Russian metals and mining group Mechel increased by 12% on the quarter to 2.96 million tonnes in April–June, the company said in a statement on Friday.

Steel output went up by 3% to 876,000 tonnes, and cast iron output also grew by 3% to 796,000 tonnes.

In January–June, output of coal grew by 44% to 5.6 million tonnes, of steel fell by 4% to 1.7 million tonnes, and of cast iron dropped by 12% to 1.6 million tonnes.
